This weekend is the Sherman Artists Association (SAA) “Summer Evening for the Arts” at the White Silo Farm and Winery on July 11, 2026, 6:30- 9 pm. Hope you have your ticket! You will enjoy live music, a grazing table of delicious eats, and a variety of drinks. The live auction, silent auction, and raffle will give you the opportunity to enjoy wonderful experiences or purchase great art! You can also be part of a fun art project “pARTcipate”. This is our first fundraiser with the goal of establishing a permanent home for the visual arts in Sherman. For more information: ShermanArtists.org.
Since 2021, the SAA community has grown to more than 100 local artists from Connecticut and New York. It has brought exhibitions and creative events to Sherman and neighboring towns using borrowed and rented spaces. We’ve gathered in libraries, community centers, homes, wineries, and temporary galleries — wherever we could make art happen.
Now we’re ready to build something lasting. Our vision is a Sherman Art Center: a welcoming place where people can take classes, attend workshops, experience exhibitions, connect with others, and explore creativity together. A place that strengthens community and supports artists. We are currently exploring potential locations including barns, homes, land, and other properties so that when the right opportunity appears, we are ready to act. This fundraiser is the start to making this happen.
The auction items include fun experiences and incredible pieces of art. Want to fly to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket via Tradewind Aviation? Always wanted to play golf at the River Oaks, the private golf club in Sherman? Want to get yourself in shape at the Evolve Yoga Studio? Is there a special someone you would like a portrait painting of done by Murial Stockdale? Maybe you would like to take a private set of pottery classes, right here in Sherman!
You could become the owner of a painting by Kathleen L’Hommedau or Lynn Slonaker. There are also 3 raffles: fine wines, special beers, and delightful liquors. As a special treat, all attendees will be invited to a unique day on July 17 at Cloudbreak, a private sculpture park in Northwestern Connecticut.
