Sherman Artists Association advances the education of visual artists and the public by providing a means for artists to share their knowledge, support, and inspiration, thereby enriching the cultural life of the Sherman community and beyond.

Our Story
From a Few Artists to a Regional Community
Sherman Artists Association was founded in October 2021 by co-chairs Lisa Hickey and Linda Hubbard, who saw how much local artists could gain from a place to connect, learn from one another, and share their work with the public.
Since then, the association has grown into a community of painters, photographers, glass artists, sculptors, and makers from Sherman and the surrounding towns of Connecticut and New York. Members exhibit together, open their studios to visitors, and gather each month to learn something new.
Looking ahead, we are working toward a permanent home for the visual arts in Sherman.

A Year with Sherman Artists
Exhibitions, studio tours, community events, and programs throughout the year.

Members’ Meetings
Guest speakers, artist demonstrations, and workshops, in person at the Sherman Senior Center and on Zoom.
Memorial Day Weekend
Art Supply Tag Sale
Artists pass along paints, canvases, frames, and tools, and everyone finds something new to create with.

Our juried exhibition at the Kent Art Association, with recognition awards in each category.
October
Farm Day at Happy Acres
Farm-themed artwork by our members, raffled to support the association at this beloved community day.
First Weekend in December
Sherman Open Studios
Visitors meet artists in their home studios and at pop-up locations across Sherman.
Led by Volunteers
Our board brings decades of experience in the arts, business, law, technology, and nonprofit leadership to the work of supporting local artists.
