The Sherman Library is pleased to announce its upcoming art exhibition, “Diverse Expression,” a portraiture photography by Tim Clark. Tim Clark’s photographs are built around clean composition, natural light, and a sense of calm presence, giving each image a clarity that feels both intimate and unforced. Clark is especially drawn to individuals whose sense of style and identity reflect a quiet, brave confidence. The exhibition of these portraits runs March 27 to May 6, 2026, with an opening reception on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 6–8 p.m. Artwork from the show will also be featured on the Sherman Library website: shermanlibrary.org.
Tim Clark is a photographer whose work is shaped by a deep appreciation for authenticity and the quiet strength of honest moments. Whether he’s creating portraits or exploring the natural world, Clark approaches his subjects with patience, attentiveness, and a genuine desire to understand what makes them unique.
In portraiture, Clark gravitates toward people who express themselves unapologetically – through their look, their energy, or the subtle ways they take up space. His ability to build trust allows these qualities to emerge naturally, resulting in images that feel grounded, sincere, and unmistakably personal.
Rather than chasing theatrics or overly stylized moments, Clark focuses on the authentic details that reveal character and individuality. His wildlife and outdoor work carries that same sensibility, highlighting the dignity and understated power found in the natural world. As an avid outdoorsman both wildlife photography and street portraiture allow him to create in his favorite settings using natural light and weather as a backdrop.
Across all of his photography, Clark’s creative voice is guided by careful observation, respect, and a deep curiosity about what makes each subject distinct. He is drawn to moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed – the shift of light, the rhythm of wind, the quiet flicker of emotion that defines a person’s presence. His work invites viewers into a slower, more thoughtful way of seeing, where individuality is honored, emotion rises gently, and beauty is found in the honest, unpolished truth of each moment.
Clark is a photographer, cabinet maker, carpenter and musician who lives in Sherman, CT with his wife Jeanne, their two cats and two big furry dogs. He is a member of the Sherman Artists Association.
