Next Meeting: Oliver Tobin “Preserve & Protect: Approaching an Art Archive”

February 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Exciting News! Our next meeting on Wednesday, February 14, at 6:30 pm at the Sherman Sr Center is not to be missed!  Join us for an inspiring presentation by Oliver Tobin, former director of Martha Graham Resources and dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company.
Get ready to dive into art archives with Tobin as he shares his expertise on “Preserve & Protect: Approaching an Art Archive.” Learn firsthand about managing the extensive collection of Martha Graham, spanning from 1894 to 2021!
Curious about the archival process? Tobin oversaw the preservation of Graham’s costumes, production elements, images, ephemera, and personal items. Discover how he relocated this treasure trove to its permanent home at the NYPL Dance Division and implemented a digital database for global access!
Whether you’re into dance, history, or the art of archiving, this presentation promises valuable insights. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to learn how to organize, preserve, and creatively manage a collection. See you there!
