LAND Gallery in Pawling, New York is reopening after a winter break with “A Love Letter to New York State” – Photographs by Jane Haslam. Her images capture the drama, unpredictability and magnificence of the Catskills, Hudson Valley and Pawling area. This will be the final show at LAND Gallery as Jane will be moving back to England and the gallery will be closing on May 24, 2026.

“It was love that brought me to New York State and because 2026 will be my last year living here I thought it was appropriate to put my feelings about my adopted home into words” Her latest blog post, A Love Letter to New York State, is a personal reflection on the landscapes that she explored and the photographs that have grown from that connection. Since 2009, the mountains, forests, rivers, and quiet corners have been both her home as well as a constant source of inspiration. Through every season, she has hiked the trails with her camera, being drawn again and again to the subtle shifts of light and atmosphere that make this State so endlessly compelling.
Haslam’s photographs capture the emotional depth of nature across the ever-changing seasons. From soft pastels, dramatic skies, the stark beauty of winter, to silent sunrises that few ever see, these images reveal a deep connection to place and an unrelenting pursuit of light. Each photograph is both a moment in time and a meditation on nature’s drama, inviting viewers to travel into the mountains to feel the stillness, power, and poetry of the Catskills, Hudson Valley and beyond. The photographs are more than scenic views—they are markers of moments that have been lived, challenges that have been accepted, and stories that are written in the mountain air.
