“Forrest” is a classically trained contemporary artist with an impressionist twist. He is a native son who lives on a farm near Sherman with Hillary, two horses, two donkeys & their Belgian Malinois mutts.
In 2026, Forrest won 1st Prize at a juried show in Connecticut for his “American Kestrel” painting. This is the helicopter among raptor birds of prey that can hover above a delicious insect or lizard on its menu.
This year’s juried Great Hollow Preserve’s Annual Spring Art Show in “the barn” included more than 60 artists — so Forrest’s award was a “Great Hollow honor!”
Since Fall 2025, Forrest has been juried into national and international shows, including three paintings exhibited at Viridian Artists’ Gallery in Chelsea in NYC. One of his paintings won the Gallery Director’s Choice.
He has also shipped selected oil paintings to national shows, including a juried Small Works show in PA.
Other recent solo shows included a Live 4 Art month of July and his amazing August Show in the lush space at The Sherman Library in Conn. That’s thanks to Linda Hubbard & the Sherman Artists’ Association.

Brennen Forrest was always a sketch artist and began painting oils on board as a teen in Westchester County, NY. His work is inspired by the craftsmanship, color palettes, and classic designs of the great masters.
Forrest studied in the 1980s with Cesar Borgia at the Reilly League of Artists in New York.
Frank Reilly taught at the Artists’ League of NY for 28 years, then opened his own school in Westchester, NY.
Forrest continues to attend Life Drawing classes at Silvermine Arts in New Canaan, Ridgefield, CT & at Arts on the Lake in NY.
