Our Vision
A Home for the Visual Arts in Sherman
Sherman is a community rich in arts and culture, with vibrant institutions such as the Sherman Playhouse, the JCC, the Historical Society, the library, and our local winery. But there is a missing piece: a dedicated space for the visual arts.
The Sherman Artists Association is working to secure a dedicated gallery and community arts space in Sherman: the Sherman Art Center.
More Than a Building
What the Art Center Will Offer
A Sherman Art Center will be an investment in creativity, community, and opportunity: a place for artists to create, collaborate, and share their work, with educational programs and cultural experiences for the wider community.
Public Exhibitions
Regular, public exhibits showcasing the incredible talent of our neighbors.
Classes & Workshops
Creative classes for all ages, from children discovering their talents to adults learning a new medium or improving existing skills.
A Gathering Place
A space that enriches Sherman’s arts landscape, alongside our theater and music traditions, to make our town a true destination for the arts.
Why Now
A Growing Community Without a Home
What began in 2021 as a modest gathering of a few dozen local creators has grown into a thriving community of more than 100 artists. Today we exhibit in rented spaces and borrowed venues, and we cannot yet offer the consistent, year-round programming our community deserves.
