  • The Sherman Artists Association was born in October 2021 with the town’s first-ever Open Studios, sparking a vibrant creative movement. What began as a small, informal gathering of a dozen local artists meeting in our homes quickly gained momentum through word of mouth, expanding our circle of passionate creatives. Recognizing the need for a more structured organization, we officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in January 2023, adopting professional accounting systems to support our growth. Today, we continue to foster artistic collaboration and community engagement, meeting monthly at the Sherman Senior Center. There will be live music, information about the various organizations that support our community, a bake sale, art projects for the kids and more! Mark your calendar!   • The Great Hollow Juried Painting and Photography Show celebrates its eighth year in 2025. Over the past seven years, this show has raised over $10,000 for Great Hollow Nature Preserve. The 2025 Show will be held in person at the legendary Great Hollow Gate House Barn, as well as continue online for an additional six weeks, giving artists the opportunity for increased local and national exposure of their work. Artists are invited to submit up to four digital images of two-dimensional work for the competition. Accepted media are photographs, paintings, collages, drawings, and digitally augmented art. Ned Reade will be the juror for the painting, and Lori Adams will be the juror for the photography. Local businesses will donate prizes for first, second, and third place in both paintings and photography. The Great Hollow Juried Painting and Photography Show celebrates its eighth year in 2025. Over the past seven years, this show has raised over $10,000 for Great Hollow Nature Preserve.
