SUMMARY:August Light 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Sherman Artists Association is hosting a show “August Light 2026” in the Kent Art Association Building\, 21 S. Main St\, Kent\, Connecticut August 14 – Sept 6\, 2026.  Forty artists and over 120 paintings\, photographs\, mixed media\, and fused glass have been accepted into this juried show.  Awards for the best in each category will be announced at the opening reception on Friday\, August 14\, from 6 – 8 pm and the show is open from August 14 – Sept 6\, 2026.  Open hours are:  Thursday – Saturday 1 – 5pm\, Sunday 12 – 4pm.   \n\n\n\nThe artists have created a feast of landscapes\, closeups and abstracts of life\, whimsy and beauty.  The judges are Elizabeth McDonald and Hacer (Gerardo Gomez-Martinez).  Winners will be announced at the opening.   \n\n\n\nThe artists\, both established and new\, are from Dutchess County\, New York\, and Fairfield and Litchfield Counties in Connecticut.  Participating artists include:  Terry Ariano\, Suzanne Ashley\, Jeremiah Bickford\, Christy Bonaiuto\, Donna Castellucio\, Phyllis Chadwick\, John Clery\, Carolyn Cohen\, Eva DeFranco\, Laura Faller\, Jennifer Forlastro\, Jeff Ginsburg\, Karen Golden\, Tony Gomez\, Jeffrey Gracer\, Polly Hayward Miller\, Linda Hubbard\, Bonnie Johnson\, Aurora Kilai\, Dave King\, Marta Kowalska\, Charlene Leichter\, Beth Levine\, Lu Li\, Susan Locke\, Mary Jane Magoon\, Emily Marquis\, Christina Maschke\, Keven Nelson\, Cynthia O’Connor\, Doreen O’Connor\, Terry Pasquale\, Kathy Peck\, Deborah Rose\, Virginia Schaffer\, Denise Schlesinger\, Eric Schmidt\, Jaime Seymour\, Lynn Slonaker\, Barbara Soares\, Jim Stasiak\, and Muriel Stockdale.  \n\n\n\n\nJeremiah Bickford Dahlia Festival and Homegrown – Watercolor\, 53”x97”\n\n\n\nJaime Seymour – Hummingbird – Acrylic and Spray Paint on canvas\, 10×10\n\n\n\nEric Schmidt – Leopard Cub – Photograph\, 24 x 20\n\n\n\n Eva DeFranco – Marble Red Clay Tea Set\n\n\n\nKathy Peck – Fused Glass Plate\, round 16”\n\n\n\nJeff Ginsburg – In a Blink of a Blink – Photo graph – 11 x 14\n\n\n\nCarolyn Cohen – Flora Mixed Media 24 x 30

SUMMARY:Open Studios Call for Artists
DESCRIPTION:6th Annual Sherman Open Studios 2026 \n\n\n\nDecember 5 & 6\, 2026 | 10 AM – 4 PM \n\n\n\nHome Studios plus Pop-up locations: Sherman Senior Center\, Sherman JCC\, and Charter Hall. \n\n\n\nThe Sherman Artists Association is now accepting applications for our 6th Annual Open Studios\, taking place this December 5 & 6. This popular holiday-season event gives Sherman Artists members the opportunity to showcase and sell their work directly to the public. \n\n\n\nHow to Participate \n\n\n\nArtists can choose to either: \n\n\n\n✔️ Open their own Sherman-based home studio \n\n\n\n✔️ Show their work at a pop-up location (grid panels provided) \n\n\n\nAll participating artists must handle their own table/display setup and sales. Work must be original and created by the artist. Pop-up locations will be assigned based on a mix of artists and location capacity. \n\n\n\nThis event is open to all current SAA members. \n\n\n\nBonus Exhibit at Sherman Library \n\n\n\nAs a participant\, you’re also invited to submit 1–2 pieces to our Library Group Show: \n\n\n\n\nOn view: November 20\, 2026 – January 6\, 2027\n\n\n\nOpening Reception: Friday\, November 20 | 6–8 PM\n\n\n\n30% commission applies to library sales.\n\n\n\n\nApplication deadline: Wednesday\, October 7\, 2026 \n\n\n\nEntry fee: Home Studios: $60 and Pop-up locations: $85 \n\n\n\nWe will use images and descriptions for jurying and publicity. \n\n\n\nAcceptance Letter: October 12\, 2026 \n\n\n\nPayment due by October 19\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nApply here
